Our Story

The idea of Virgo Coffee Roasters started when the company founder and CEO, Alec Zeta, stumbled on his first coffee experience when he moved to Melbourne, Australia back in 2013. It stirred up his curiosity in great length fabricating his eagerness to learn everything that he could about coffee. That was when he got entangled with the initial third wave phenomena of Melbourne’s specialty coffee culture in 2014.

His thirst for knowledge and bettering himself did not end there. The  pursuit for excellence started when he became the Head Barista of a top tier award-winning Australian coffee company.

After a year, he pursued to become a Coffee Roaster and  Quality Control specialist for two years from 2015-2017 for a major roasting company and spent countless hours studying the art of roasting on how to properly develop various flavor profiles for beans of different origins.

He then continued on to become the Managing Director of another Roasting Company in Melbourne and dealt with green bean buying and sourcing coffee beans from all over the world, visiting single origin farms immersing on how specialty coffee is grown, harvested and processed for import.

His professional career took a major turn when he became a Coffee Specialist and a certified Q-Grader for a corporate giant under the Coca Cola company for the next 7 years providing specialised training to industry professionals and streamlining business models of local Australian businesses within the states of Victoria and Tasmania.

Having all of these arsenal of industry experience, he felt passionate to go  back to his homeland, the Philippines and establish his own Coffee Roasting company here in Cagayan de Oro City, presently known as Virgo Coffee Roasters with the aim of sharing his expertise and elevating the benchmark of the local coffee scene.
